Jersh Reviews Rating System

NOTE: As a musician and former indie filmmaker, I know the challenges that lie in trying to create entertainment in its simplest form (let alone something that feels impactful and/or long lasting). All successfully completed projects are like a miracle and in no way are my opinions to be construed as personal attacks on anyone involved with any media I consume and/or review.

1 - Irredeemable: No semblance of producing thought or feeling, it is best if this never was (if it even matters to have an opinion of its existence).

1.5

2 - Terrible: You were so busy asking if you could make this that you didn’t stop to ask if you should, minimally functions as defined................. poorly.

2.5

3 - Bad: A sliver of something worthwhile may exist, but the execution is so poor it cannot be found.

3.5

4 - Disappointing: You had something, and the potential was there, but it was not executed in a successful way.

4.5

5 - Average: Competent but forgetful, not enough is done to induce any positive or negative response.

5.5

6 - Good: The pros and cons are about even but there was just enough going for it that it was worth checking out.

6.5

7 - Great: A solid effort that succeeds in what it attempts and is mostly enjoyable but is held back by technical issues or less than desirable creative choices.

7.5

8 - Excellent: Above the competition of similar media or genre, but a few issues make it harder to recommend outside of pre-existing fans who will be more forgiving of its faults.

8.5

9 - Amazing: Overall very impressive with some memorable moments, easier to recommend to a wider audience with minor caveats.

9.5

10 - Masterpiece: Creatively and technically second to none. A near perfect (if not JUST perfect) blend of challenging yet rewarding; the best kind of emotionally and intellectually fulfilling entertainment imaginable. Media of this caliber should be consumed by everyone, regardless of any prior interest or familiarity. Unforgettable.

Rating including “.5” means:

Something impressed enough to warrant considering an increased rating, but something negative either articulated or felt held it back from a full point increase
